Testimonials

latteandjane   I am a Professional Equestrian and Coach and was recommended PLACID REIN‘to take the edge off’ my horse as he got stressed in training and extremely unmanageable at competitions.  I found he had a completely different attitude, not only in his work but even in the day to day handling of him.  I’ve now got my skitty thoroughbred from Elementary to PSG/Inter 1 Dressage and am training many of the Grand Prix movements. Placid Rein is non swabbable and totally natural, and there is absolutely nothing else on the market that comes close to matching its effectiveness.  I have used PLACID REIN on other horses in training and have had the same success. I have since introduced G.T.P., PRO-FLEX, OSMO-PLEX, EQUI-TORQUE and VITASTANCE into all of my horses’s diets. They are far superior products to what I have previously used and much more economically priced.  The G.T.P. used with EQUI-TORQUE oil has given my horses brilliant shiny coats and muscle tone that I wouldn’t have thought possible. I have recommended them to some of my clients and their responses have been glowing.

kate   I am a professional Equestrian rider and coach. For some years I have trained and competed at the highest level of Three Day Eventing, the most demanding of the Olympic discliplines. The average horse will compete at this level for around 5 years and is exposed to an enormous amount of stress on the joints and ligaments. A typical Advanced level 3DE is run at 550m per minute for 8 minutes plus negotiate fences (up to 40 jumping efforts) to a height of 1.20m.

Over the years I have used a number of other products but have found that the most effective solution is PRO-FLEX. I have in particular a 13 year old gelding with poor conformation (but a big heart) who feels stiff and sore when not being fed Pro-Flex.
As soon as he is on it he feels like a 2 year old again. He gallops better and is much happier jumping. He was close to retirement before trying Pro-Flex (having been on other joint products for some yeas), now he has a new lease o life. I cannot speak highly enough of this product, I now have all of my horses on it.

nicolemagoffin   Jaybee Anzac and I have been together for 10 years and together have made or way to Grand Prix. Being listed for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 really made me think, “Am I supporting him in every way I can?” So along with hard work, it is very important to me that he receives the best of care. All my horses including Zac are fed from the Mitavite range of products; the range offers Zac a balanced feed for his requirements.
Not only does Zac get fed the best products but he is also supplemented with the best products. PRO FLEX from Equitec, is a product I feel he has really benefited from. Joint condition and care is of utmost importance in our sport and supplementing Zac with Pro Flex gives me peace of mind knowing I am giving him the best product the industry has to offer. I highly recommend along with the Mitavite range of feeds, Pro Flex. I can feel the difference it offered Zac and I have the highest of confidence in its protection for him.

I am lucky enough to train and campaign the double D team horses Furst Tyme, Flavio, and Dante. I keep them all on PRO-FLEX, a supplement that helps maintain healthy cartliage, ligaments and tendons. Dante and Furst Tyme also get PLACID REIN, a nutraceutical support for nervous horses. This product really helps with their ability to cope with the pressures of competition, and is non-swabbable. I cannot recommend the Equitec product range highly enough.

amyzeller   “Some horse owners make the mistake of thinking that only stabled horses can get stomach ulcers.  The health of your horses' digestive system is fragile and important no matter what their lifestyle is. Whenever I suspect that one of my horses has a problem with his digestive system I put him straight on a course of CLEAN CULTURE. The results are consistent and impressive.”

rebeccallen   We have been using a wide range of Equitec Equine Performance Products for over a decade now, on all of our horses - from babies to adults.  One particular mare came back with BigHead after a lease expired, and has gone from having a dull coat with poor muscle tone and stiff joints with the classic enlarged jaw, to her normal, round, shiney self - and produced a foal again after several years of trying!  We only promote what we are happy to use ourselves, and we are VERY happy to endorse (and distribute in central QLD) EQUITEC! Safe, user-friendly products that do what they say - what more do you need? tammystephens   I started feeding Equitec’s multi-vitamin supplement to my mare River Range Carolina 12 months ago and within 2 weeks I noticed a dramatic improvement with her coat and health. I’m always getting comments on how good her coat looks with all her dapples and shine. Cara tends to be fussy with what she eats and I often have to trial several products before I find one that’s right for her. Sometimes she will sift through her feed eating only what she prefers leaving what she doesn’t. She also shows results extremely quickly in her coat and her performance so when I change products I usually see fairly soon whether it’s making a difference or not. I’ve now switched to VITA STANCE and although Cara has only been on it for a month now; she’s kept her condition and ALL her dapples which is telling me that this product is working well for her overall condition. She also eats everything in her feed bin so I know she has no problems with the new taste. Vita Stance, combined with PRO FLEX, I’m now almost guaranteed for not only that winning look, but a top performance as well. (As long as I ride her the right way that is….. )

kyliebaker   Hi Ken
I would like to congratulate you on your product PRO FLEX. I have used it on both my horses with remarkable and noticeable results. Ticky is 16 months and was put on Pro Flex six weeks prior to a check ligament operation. His recovery time was halved and was allowed home days earlier than expected. The vet and nurses remarked at how quickly he had healed. I am now using it on my six year old riding pony show horse who was definitely noticing that the ground is now like concrete. Since putting him on Pro Flex his movement has become more suspended and soft. The only thing I have changed is the Pro Flex. Now that the climate has changed and we seem to be in constant drought the need for products such as this have become necessary for every day riding.  I find it the most economical on the market and would like to thank you again for such a great product.

jennygehrke   2008 QLD Medium and Advanced Level Dressage Champion Gitane gets
MAGNA SOL rubbed on her legs after heavy work. Not only does this help keep Gitane’s tendons and ligaments healthy but also reduces the occurrence of those tricky skin conditions that horses with white socks seem to suffer from. I am really impressed by the results that I have seen from using Magna Sol and would recommend it to all horse owners.

sarai   A little under a year ago we noticed that our four year old warmblood mare wasn’t moving the way that she normally did. We decided to try acupuncture. During treatment the practitioner commented, “Her neck is very sore. Has your mare run through a fence? We said “No, absolutely not.” She had just had 3 weeks off, because she had been going so well. A subsequent x-ray found particles of bone around the articular facets C4, C5 and C6. As this is usually considered to be the first signs of arthrosis, we thought it imperative we act quickly to avoid any further injury or discomfort. As we were already existing Equitec customers, we made the decision to give Ken Ford the call and see if there was anything else we could be doing to get our mare back on track. Following a discussion with their associate vet our horse was put on Equitec’s Joint food PRO FLEX. We also used laser light therapy for a month just to speed the healing process up. Little did we know how quickly we would notice the results. After just 7 months on Pro-Flex and only one month of laser light therapy her range of movement and comfort levels went through the roof. We could not have been happier, all-be-it a little surprised given that we thought she would be out of action for at least one year. We decided to fast track the next x-ray only to find out that that all previous indications of injury were gone. The joints were all realigned with absolutely zero sign of swelling or calcification. It was as if there had never even been an injury. The Vet was amazed and we did not know whether to laugh or cry.
She is now back under saddle and working as hard as ever. We have kept her on the Pro-flex and I have no doubt that this has played a major part in her remarkable recovery. We cannot thank Ken and the team at Equitec Performance Products enough for the help and support they have provided. We would recommend Equitec’s total health plan to anybody who wants to get the best out of their horse or to anyone who simply wants to see their horse healthy and happy.

In November 2001 my 9y0 thoroughbred gelding Seal competed at the Adelaide International Horse Trials in the three star class. Overcome by the atmosphere he jumped out of the arena causing elimination. This extremely bad behaviour put Seal's future at the top level of eventing in doubt. After trialling some products on the market to help with Seal's competition day nerves I had problems finding one that he would eat and didn't swab and worked. I came across Equine Equitec's PLACID REIN and started using it in the lead up to the Sydney International Horse Trials in April 2003.  I was sure there was a good response to the product but the test came at the dressage day.  Seal's dressage was his best  performance and he completed all movements quietly.  Seal won the event and is now on the Australian National A list. I can recommend this product with these great results to any one.  I now also use Placid Rein on other less extreme cases to improve their performance too.  The product is the best of its kind on the market without a doubt.

    Hi Ken and Tim (Equitec)
I just wanted to let you both know that the grey gelding was 1st lightweight at the Jericho Western Zone Championship 160km ride! The additive to the PLACID REIN obviously had some effect as he was a lot calmer at the ride start and trotted out quite sanely with the other horses at the start.  However I did find, that he was a little sluggish during periods of the ride (which is unlike him), so not sure if that was a carry on effect or not? However, he looked GREAT at the finish and ran a terrific ride. I am over the moon with him! Next ride will be the Tom Quilty National Championship in Victoria on 19/20 September. Until then, he will have a bit of a spell as he has now completed 3 x 120km rides, plus the 160km

To Whom it may Concern
I have had the advantage/experience of witnessing first hand the evolution of VitaStance.  Additives and supplements won't make your horses go faster – some manufacturers would have you believe otherwise.  But a fit and healthy horse is more likely to reach its potential than on lacking vital nutrients.  Nutrients that a paddock can't give. I have used and recommended VITA STANCE for over 10 years.  My very small operation enjoys an enviable strike rate.  An example being a $500 purchase named “Haikala”, 9 wins and $50,000 later – we'll keep using VitaStance.  Even when I was the National Sales Manager for NatureVet, all of my horses were on VitaStance, its the cornerstone of my feeding regime, simple as that. From my days when I ran a Veterinary Wholesale Distributorship and supplied this product to trainers who then proceeded to win city and even group races, to the present I believe VitaStance to be the best all-round Vitamin and Mineral supplement available in Australia.

I have a 12yr old TB gelding, Brockie, which I currently compete at Medium level Dressage.  Since retiring from racing at 5yrs old Brockie has always been a very nervous and temperamental horse with an inconsistent performance record.  It has also been difficult to gain and maintain weight as he overreacts by becoming hotter to many normal feeds and additives. Over the years I have tried many of the usual solutions to his nervousness including changes of diet, handling and training regimes and feed additives.  The latter ranged from Rescue Remedy to Vitamin B mixes and Tryptophan.  Some did calm him down but made him wooden and stiff.

In August last year, in desperation, I contacted my vet and said unless I could find a solution I would have to stop competing Brockie.  He put me in touch with Equitec and I started him on a new regime.  The onslaught of the Equine flu and the lack off competitions also gave me the opportunity to change his diet to the one recommended by Ken from Equitec. We initially gave Brockie a course of Clean Culture to clear his system and then I started a course of PLACID REIN and GTP
Six months on I have a different horse, he looks marvellous on half the amount of feed he had before and  his performance and consistency has improved out of sight.

In the past a trail ride was an endurance test of nerves (both his and consequently mine), now I have a horse I can use to lead my 8yr old daughter, with her three months riding experience, out on a trail ride and who gives me consistently improving performance. We had our first outing since the EI last week to a Club Training day; this was the real test as I always had to be prepared to throw away my first test of the day until he (hopefully ) settled.  This time he started calm, remained calm and scored very well in both tests.  In short he was a pleasure to ride. During the last six months I have at times taken him off the placid Rein but have always noticed a marked difference in his attitude and work.  When I reinstate it his performance improves so I attribute the positive results to the Placid Rein not other variants. I will continue to work with Equitec to support my other horses' needs and believe they provide genuine and unique knowledge and product.

Last summer my instructor and I noticed that my horse (Fourwinds Andronicus) had begun to suffer from Anhydrosis (a potentially serious condition where the horse’s sweat glands fail to work effeciently). My instructor recommended that I try tohe Equitec product OSMO PLEX and I could not be happier that I took her advice. Within a mattter of days I began to notice an improvemtnent and within a few weeks he was sweating profusely once more. I cannot recommend this produce highly enough.

About twelve months ago, my 15 year old Thoroughbred dressage horse began to suffer intermittent lameness. A visit to my vet diagnosed him with pedal oestitis in the heels of both front feet. After discussing treatment options, he was shod by a remedial farrier with some success. He was still having his good and bad days. I heard about Ken Ford and his products from my vet. He said he was known as the “wizard of Eagle Farm” and had great success with lameness cases. I gave Ken a call and for the first time I started to feel a glimmer of optimism that this wasn’t the end of the line for my beautiful boy.

Ken prescribed him with two products, PRO FLEX to be taken internally, and MAGNA-SOL to be applied topically to his affected hooves. The results after eight weeks were so much more than I was hoping.

My horse went from being sound around half the time to showing no signs of lameness at all. I train and compete on him regularly with no signs of the lameness. I was so impressed with the products that we decided to try another of the Equitec products, Placid Rein. We have a young highly-strung Arab gelding who could seriously spook for Australia. At competitions he was ridiculously tense and his performance greatly affected. Even training at home was an issue, particularly in the wind. For the first six months, Trinity was on the product twice daily with his feed. His performance at home improved 100%. We could take him to pony club and events without fear of him losing the plot.

These days Trinity has become far more adjusted to his life under saddle. We no longer need to use the product every day. We usually add Placid Rein to his feed three days prior to an event. It just seems to take the edge off for him when he is out somewhere new. With my experiences with our boys, I would highly recommend the Equitec range of products. I am so grateful to have met Ken and had the opportunity to learn a little of what he knows and to have access to such wonderful products.
Kind regards - Lisa Davis

Nick has trouble when travelling to events as he ceased to drink and picks at his feed regardless of what we add in the way of molasses etc.  When travelling 4 hours to the Toowoomba Show he is usually off his feed for the duration of the events – usually 3 days.  We recently travelled to Werribee, Victoria for EFA National Pony Dressage Championships.  The trip took 4 days and he was away for 2 weeks in total.  He continued to eat and drink for the whole time. He performed very well winning National Champion Preliminary Pony and National Runner up Champion Novice Pony.  He maintained his energy levels the whole time.  We used the OSMO PLEX, PRO FLEX and EQUI-TORQUE as you prescribed.

Hi, I would like to order a 4kg tub of Pro Flex please.  I have seen its results on a friend's horse and was impressed. I have had Leesa Deen's old mare at my place and we were going to have her put down this winter when she became stiff again as she did lasst winter.  Leesa supplied me with the PRO FLEX for the mare and it gave her a new lease on life and she was no longer stiff so I thought I would like to urchase some for my 15yr old gelding.

Within the ranks of horse ownership, there is one thing we can all agree upon – the desire to keep our equine partners sound in mind and body. With so many maintenance and wellbeing supplements in the market, it is remarkably easy to fall for clever marketing which promises a ‘fix it’ contained within fancy packaging – all without truly knowing what is actually inside that wiz-bang packaging! More importantly, are we asking ourselves if the actual contents are relevant to our steeds needs?
As a marketer for many years, my eyes have been opened – quite widely! – many times with the very clever tactics used to make promises to the consumer, and with this in mind, I am indeed a very cynical customer. In the past, I have spent more hours than I like to admit researching maintenance products, trying to find the best

complete supplement for my horses. Up until ‘not so long ago’, my horses pretty much went without because everything I researched came up with huge gaping holes in one way or another. The constant areas I continually questioned was “why on earth am I paying so much money for the extra additives in ‘X’ product when my horse simply doesn’t need those extra things and why are the percentages of additives so inconsistent across the different brands”?

Sound familiar? For all of us who have asked these questions, there is Utopia in Equitec Performance Products with the company and its products managed and developed by founder, Ken Ford. Ken’s astounding scientific knowledge and pure, enthusiastic passion for the wellbeing of all equines transfers directly to his products – the veritable treasure trove of Ken’s knowledge is profound and with his years of expertise in each of his products, literally thousands of horses are benefiting, every day, with improved health and performance.
PLACID REIN My young horse decided that the 5-headed-horseflesh-eating-monster living in the hedges around my arena was after him (in fact it was just the lizards and the occasional skippy). Regardless of the cause, a tense and over reactive giraffe under saddle was the result. I pulled all my tricks out of my hat, but the horse was having none of it…It was taking a lot of effort to get him around the arena, training was becoming a real issue and my arena had become the horse pit of doom. Of course, with young horses this behaviour must be nipped in the bud before it becomes a learned response and I knew I had to do something, pretty quickly, before his nervousness and tension got in the way of his training. I’ve used calming products in the past but found they either didn’t work or they dull the horse too much and the last
thing you want when you enter at ‘A’ is a slug on 4 legs. Other products, even the herbal ones, are swabbable and that just wasn’t going to be suitable either.
I called Ken at Equitec and after a very informative discussion, I had a bucket of Placid Rein delivered to my doorstep the very next day. Within only 4 days (!) of use, I had a tractable, happy, soft and calm horse – I was astounded at the rapid change and the bonus was he was still forward, energetic and responsive…exactly the same horse, but no longer scared witless by every little thing (including those flyaway leaves which as we all know, suck horses down under the arena sand).
The aforementioned monster had miraculously disappeared and In fact, the positive response to Placid Rein was of such influence, I have now removed it from his daily feed. It’s palatable ( it doesn’t ‘stink’ like some of the other products) and If need be, I can continue to use it for a few days prior to competition or any other likely stressful occasions, but he no longer requires it everyday. One of the best things? It’s not swabbable so we can actually use Placid Rein as much as we like and for as long
as we like! What a godsend!
On a call with Ken, I asked why this product changed my horse so dramatically that I no longer need to feed it every day. This was Ken’s explanation on how a CORRECTLY formulated supplement works, “When we consider and understand the factors that affect nervousness in horses we have to remember that there are actually two nervous systems we are dealing with. Both need specific nourishment to function harmoniously. The central nervous system and the autonomic nervous system have different nutritional requirements.

Placid Rein has been formulated to provide nutritional support to meet those requirements. There are many reasons that contribute to nervousness, the most common being: Ulcers, Congenital factors, Dietary mismanagement, Vitamin and
mineral deficiencies, Inherited problems from pervious owners or handlers, impatience, wrong attitude, etc.), Protein additives that have over 15% protein content, Excessive supplementation, and Excessive use of molasses. The sugars in molasses promote bacteria, nervous stomach and gas, which upsets the flora in the hind gut. Be aware of how much molasses is contained in any pre-mixed feeds you use and if you require a sweetener, instead of molasses, use Xylitol, a polyol pentose, which has numerous health benefits”. With Ken’s explanation, there were definitely 3 on his list that applied to my horse and now, in particular, with the vitamin/mineral deficiencies addressed with the correct dosages found in Placid Rein, I have my horse ‘back’.
With the results I’ve experienced, I can honestly recommend Placid Rein for any horse which displays nervous tension either at home or at competition. Even if you just want to take the ‘edge’ off from the electric atmosphere during competitions, this is certainly the product to use. Next on my list from Equitec Performance Products is Pro-Flex – a complete supplement to maintain the health of cartilage, ligaments and
tendons. After all those years of researching products and systematically discarding them, I’m completely sold on Pro-Flex to promote longevity in my horses’ performance and soundness.
